Furniture ideas to refresh your living room
Spring is here! The days are getting longer and we’re starting to brush away the cobwebs after our winter hibernation. Now is a great time to tackle some of those key rooms in your home – are you doing any major redocorating or merely rearranging and refreshing a room?
The former will take a little longer, but if it’s the latter – if you want to breathe a little more freshness into a tired room – then here’s a few ideas to get you going. We’ll start with the main living spaces in this article which for most people is the living room.
Is the living room functioning as you would like? Do the layout and furnishings inspire spontaneity with your guests and invite an easy flow of conversation? Perhaps you can rethink some of the furniture ideas? Do you need more surface area for guests to place their drinks on? If that’s the case then consider a nested pine coffee table. The lightwood will not overpower any other furnishings and if they nest well, they can be easily stacked away after use.
Perhaps you need a little extra desk space – then consider a pine table. This can easily double as an intimate dining table or another space for displaying photographs and other items.
Is the colour scheme looking a little tired? Maybe just a fresh coat of paint will help rejuvenate the room but don’t get too heavy-handed with the colours. Keep them fairly neutral but by all means use some deeper hues in some key areas as accents. Complement these with coloured cushions.
Experiment with textures. Get some rugs and throws to place over the sofas. Place contrasting textures together to bring another dimension to your living space.
Look over the lighting arrangements in the room. Soft decorative lights in key areas will help you to define different zones within the room. These are available in a wide range of modern and contemporary styles so you are bound to find something to suit your needs.
